When We All Win

It’s been a little while since I’ve written something to float all over the Internet. There have been more private chats and I’ve let things happen as they please… Not so scheduled. Not so hard on myself. Priorities are arranging themselves more naturally and it just feels good. It’s a process. But in all that, things have been stirring and I just don’t know how to form the words and sentences for them yet, but other people have.

For Remembering.

It’s just about time for an update and I can feel it. I keep wanting to remember little things and I skip off without writing some down.  Someday I’m going to want to remember all these pretty, messy things. I’m pretty sure of it. [So this will be more of a journal post. Forgive me while I plaster it all over the Internet.]

1. I totally got my permit last week and it’s been awesome! I’m still getting used to having the option of driving…

2. Tuesday brought a flight for my sister Alli, on a plane decked out in shades of blue and red and gold. We marched in and got through security, and it was the best experience ever, thanks to a fabulous TSA lady. But I’m ready to see my sister again, and I’m picking her up from the airport tomorrow!

3. We bought a new car a couple days back and it’s the best! We are getting a new sound system put in because the current one sounds like music coming out of a tin can, and I’m not even playing. I did hear All Your Life by The Band Perry out of it, and it’s pretty much one of the sweetest songs ever. It makes me so happy!

4. My best friend ran hist first 5K today and I’m so proud! He’s always texting me about how he’s going for a run or just came back from one, so I know he did a great job.

5. I’m still getting used to the full-force school and work that has hit, but I think I’m getting the swing of things. It’s my junior year and I’m just feeling my way through. It’s not too scary!

6. I need to get out and shoot a portrait session soon. My ideas are overflowing and my hands are dying to wrap around the camera again. [Any takers? Email me!]

I’m completely wonderstruck. 16 years has flashed before my eyes and there’s a concoction of emotions and memories tangled together that I’m still trying to figure out. Time hasn’t passed too quickly and everything’s as it should be, but this whole thing kind of snuck up on me. I wouldn’t do anything any differently, but I’m still kind of breathless from the sheer amount of beautiful that I’ve had in my life.

To my best friends/family :: I love you all with a fierce passion. Always and forever.

To my other fabulous friends :: Oh you. You mean so much. Thank you. For reals. ♥

To my kick awesome co-workers and co-collaborators :: Oh my goodness, y’all. I couldn’t ask for better. Thank you for being you. Thank you for trusting me and accepting me.

To everyone :: I’m not sure I could ever get just the right words out to express to you how grateful I am – for each one of you, who you are, and how you’ve loved me.

Dear girls,

 

 

Someday you’re going to feel so crazy lucky and you’re going to be swimming in the crazy, beautiful life that is yours. And it’s going to be because you chose happiness. (It’s a choice really. And it’s more like a rope you hang on to for dear life.) You’re not going to worry about that ACT. You will know that you will glide into Belmont and you won’t let the “what if”s plague your mind. You’re going to be happy without that jerk of a guy that you can’t seem to live without. You’re going to make it, and with flying colors at that. You’re going to be happy with you and your life, because you can.

I promise you’re going to be able to love fiercely again, even after that one  person hurt you – that one person who was as close to your soul as a person could ever get. You’re going to have the strength to pull your big girl pants up and fight back at the hot tears at every reminder. You’re going to be able to to it because, babe, you were born for this. You are stronger than anything broken inside of you, as Ami has beautifully said.

For the Girls by a Girl

So I wrote this post for a girl by a girl. Just in case anyone was under the illusion that I had it all figured out. But when I wrote that, I was actually wading through some stuff and the only way I could make sense of it was through words. I needed to write it out and feel the keyboard under my fingertips again. I guess it’s my way of processing things. Anyway, thanks for reading it. I never expected that. ♥

Dear girls,

You’re beautiful and amazing. Don’t let anyone ever tell you otherwise – the mean girls at school or the boys up your street who just need to grow up. They’re just as confused as you are – still feeling this whole thing out. It’s ok to not have everything figured out – some people just admit it before others.

 

 

And there’s always going to be that one boy that just needs to grow up, but you’re going to wish you could have at least been friends. You’re probably going to stay up late texting your bestfriend about it and still have to get up at 6:30 the next morning. But you’re going to be able to let it go because it wasn’t meant to be, as much as you and I would both love it to be.

And can I just say something else real quick? You’re so strong – stronger than you think. You can do anything you set your heart on, but honey, make sure it’s something good. These people around us, they need to see more good women. You’re going to leave such a big mark on this world with whatever you do.

Hannah Braboy Creative

The name has changed! I’ve been thinking about it for a little while now, and I think it’s best. I still do all the same things (keeping the main focus on photography), but the name encompasses everything I do better. It just fits and I love it! You might see some slight changes in the site here pretty soon, but that’s about it. I’m super excited!

There’s something else hidden around here just for you fabulous people! Because I love you and all that. I redid the pricing + services page so that you can have just what you want and that’s it! So spread the word! Book a session. Shout it out to your friends on Facebook. Whatever floats your boat.
